Neosho County Community College, 900 East Logan, Ottawa, Kansas
Sunday, October 29, 3 p.m.
Join us for a special program and book signing featuring Ottawa native Paul Thomas, author of Haunted Lawrence!
Founded in 1854 as an abolitionist outpost, Lawrence is a seemingly unassuming college town with a long history of hauntings. A ghostly guest never checked out of the Eldridge Hotel’s mysterious room 506. Sigma Nu’s fraternity house, the former home of Kansas’s eighteenth governor, is still haunted by the specter of a young woman. Learn the tragic stories of Pete Vinegar, George Albach and Lizzie Madden and uncover the devilish truth behind the “legend” of Stull Cemetery. Author Paul Thomas reveals the ghoulish history behind these stories and many more.
As part of the book signing, Paul will also be sharing his experiences with releasing a book independently. This book was in the works for some time before it made it onto the shelves and it also went through numerous revisions. Correspondingly, Paul will be discussing interesting topics including ‘is it better to self publish or get a publisher?’ and he will be happy to take any questions from aspiring authors about how to get into the literature industry. Getting a book published is not always easy, but there are so many different options for new authors today that doing your research is essential. This event is sure to be incredibly popular so do book ahead to reserve your place!
